Prezentare Sicuramente non mi aspettavo di leggere un libro per i bambini con tanta concentrazione e – devo riconoscere! – con tanto piacere. E comunque, non credo di esser gia sul punto di diventare senile. Semplicemente il libro mi ha affascinato per l’ingegnosita dei personaggi, non meno, per il carattere vivo delle vicende che affrontano. Per non parlare poi dell’ottimo modo in cui il libro e scritto. Sono felice che questo primo volume non sia anche l’ultimo, che si tratti di un ciclo intero, il quale e lontano dal chiudersi. Vorrei ritrovare questa stessa freschezza nella lettura anche nei volumi che seguiranno. Ho delle buone ragioni per dirlo. A differenza di voi, che avete adesso davanti agli occhi il primo volume della serie Cuore di Ranocchia, io ho gia letto anche il secondo e mi preparo per leggere il terzo. Non so esattamente che cosa abbia portato l’autore alla letteratura per bambini, però due cose mi sembrano chiare. La prima, che ha tutto il talento d’immaginazione e di espressione necessario a questo genere di letteratura, quindi e indiscutibilmente portato per questo genere. La seconda, che la sua opera capita in un genere assente, nella nostra letteratura, da qualche decennio. Il genere sussiste, negli ultimi tempi, soprattutto tramite le traduzioni e le ripubblicazioni, i libri originali essendo invece un’immensa rarita, se non un’assenza vera e propria. Sono felice che tra quelli che hanno pensato a coprire questa lacuna ci sia un autore talmente ricco di talento. Un autore che, accanto alle qualita di fantasia e di espressione gia menzionate sopra, ha anche un’altra qualita che ritengo essenziale - sa introdurre quella dimensione morale senza la quale la letteratura per bambini non potrebbe essere concepita e che, però, non diventa mai moralizzatrice. La tesi morale risulta indirettamente dalle vicende, dai dialoghi e dalle meditazioni dei personaggi. E questo, come ho gia detto, mi sembra capitale. Niente può allontanare un bambino dalla dimensione etica, neppure un adulto, così come lo fa un discorso moralizzatore. Per quanto sappia io, queste fiabe si presenteranno al pubblico in varie forme – come volumi riccamente illustrati, come fumetti e ad un certo momento, se ho capito bene, come film di animazione. C’e ancora una cosa molto importante: in base alla nostra eta e al tipo di struttura psichica individuale di ognuno di noi, il nostro modo di recepire e molto diverso. Perciò la cosa migliore e che ognuno di noi venga colpito dalle cose che piu si avvicinano al nostro modo di essere. Non vorrei chiudere prima di augurare ai lettori una gradevole lettura, aldila della loro eta e della forma di presentazione della fiaba che avranno scelto – libro, fumetto, ecc. – e allo stesso tempo, vorrei augurare buon lavoro all’autore, affinche noi lettori possiamo rallegrarci il piu possibile delle peripezie dei suoi ingegnosi e affascinanti personaggi ! Se prima di fare questa lettura, qualcuno mi avesse detto che le pulci, i topi, persino i bachi da seta mi sarebbero divenuti simpatici, non ci avrei mai creduto! Ancora una volta, buona lettura! Prezentare “I don’t think I was expecting to read a children’s book with so much concentration, and I also have to admit, with such great pleasure. However, I don’t think this means that I’m entering my second childhood. Leaving aside the fact that the book is well written - putting it purely and simply, I was gripped by the ingenuity of the characters, and by the exciting nature of their experiences. I am glad this first volume is not actually the last, and that we are talking about an entire cycle which is far from its end. You are now about to read the first volume in the cycle of ‘A Frog’s Heart’, while I have already read the second one and I’m preparing for the reading of the third. So I have a serious motive for wanting to encounter the same freshness as I read the rest of it. I do not know what exactly drove the author towards children’s literature, but two things seem clear to me. Firstly, that he has all the gifts of imagination and expression necessary for this genre, so he has an indisputable leaning towards it. Secondly, that he fell upon a genre which has been a stepchild, in our literature, for a good few decades. In recent years, the genre has had a presence for its readers, mainly through translations and re-editing, with original works being immensely rare, if not almost absent. I am glad that, among the few who sought to fill this gap, there is an author so visibly gifted. He is an author who, besides the gifts of imagination and expression already mentioned, has another gift which I consider to be essential – he knows how to introduce that moral dimension without which literature for children cannot be conceived, but he never falls into merely preaching. The moral thesis emerges from the happenings, dialogues and meditations of the characters. This seems to me, as I’ve already mentioned, essential. Nothing drives a child – or even a grown-up – further away from the ethical dimension than a moralising lecture. As far as I know, these stories will be presented to the public in several formulae – as richly illustrated volumes, as comic strips, and – if I understood it correctly – as animated cartoons. This is excellent – since our way of perception differs both according to our ages and according to our personalities; and it is very good to be reached through the means best suited to us. I would not like to conclude before wishing the readers a pleasant read, irrespective of their age and the form of the story for which they’ve opted – book, comic strips, etc. I would also like to wish great energy to the author, so that he can make us glad with as many adventures as possible of his ingenious and charming characters. Had anyone told me, before reading this book, that fleas, rats and even silkworms would seem cute creatures to me, I would have said he didn’t know what he was talking about!
